  • NONA “MY COMMUNITY” CUP

NONA “MY COMMUNITY” CUP Here we are back to year 2 of the most expected event for so many of our children in Lake Nona and many local Central Florida Student-Athletes. It’s a wonder why our kids anticipate the Nona Cup so much and get excited about the weekend? It’s simple. Most of the tournaments we travel to are are always great soccer and fun memories made, but they are all very much the same. We play a lot of those so they crave the weekend of family and friends time off the field! I have to say I also get excited about it! First and foremost as I secure my business hat on I understand the huge impact we are making in our LLake Nona Community year over year. This year we are hosting over 250 teams, equating to three thousand student athletes and their families. What does that mean? All the hotel rooms in Lake Nona are booked. It is going to be very hard to find and book reservations in our local restaurants, because all the large and small business in our community will get a piece of this amazing event! Studies in youth sports shows that an event like this can bring over three million dollars in financial impact into a community. Here in Lake Nona will not be different! Now, when I put on my favorite hat, the Coach Fabio hat, I see the children of our community taking ownership of an event. We travel all over Florida to play tournaments and now is our turn, it is at home, it is OUR TOURNAMENT! The pride shown in every student athletes face, and the desire to compete and show “the world” what we can do at home, is priceless! This year is different! For some reason it feels different. All eyes in Youth Sports in Central Florida will be on us, so let’s go NONA Family! Together let’s put on a Show! We are one big extended family united together by our brand. Let’s cheer for our children, applaud the opponents, respect the Referees and show everyone that we are happy to host our guests in our home! Let’s continue to set the example! It’s year number two for the Nona Cup. Together lets represent the true meaning of the saying “We Are Nona”. Once again let’s be the best hosts! After all, soccer is only half our story! Enjoy it, Lake Nona! Have fun! I look forward to seeing you all at the Lake Nona Town Center Saturday night. The Nona Cup Half-Time Party will be from 4 – 10pm. The party has lots of surprises. See you there. Sincerely, Fabio Silva

  • ENHANCING YOUTH SPORTS IN LAKE NONA

ENHANCING YOUTH SPORTS IN LAKE NONA JUNE 26, 2020 Today Is a another milestone day for Nona Soccer Academy! Since November of 2016, My wife Cris and I have built upon our vision to deliver a soccer product for kids that is exceptional. A place where soccer brings everyone together and where “soccer is only half our story” is the foundation of our culture. This great product continues to deliver while keeping our focus within the Nona Soccer Pillars of Success; Community, Soccer, Development, Coaches. The most important one is Community. In the beginning this special pillar was looked as the weakness of the “competitive” part of the business and the least important. This is far from the truth for us and considered just as important, if not the most important. Community is what has kept us strong and Community is who we are. We knew the community of Lake Nona was in need of something worth playing for, and what would bring us together. One Game. One Community. One Vision. Since then, together with our Executive Team & Coaches, we have done everything we can to make a difference for our members, for our community and for the pride of youth sports in Lake Nona through soccer. Today Cris and I are pleased to announce the creation of NONA SPORTS CLUB. Similar to Nona Soccer Academy, Nona Sports Club is family owned and operated and will be built on the same values and foundation as Nona Soccer Academy. The expertise in the multi-facets of our soccer industry will translate into other youth sports, giving more kids the opportunity to not only develop in a sport they love, but a strong sports brand they are proud to belong to, allowing more kids to call NONA their home. The NONA Soccer Orange is worn with unanimous pride. Our Lake Nona community that joins Nona Sports Club will be part of our successful youth sports model for other youth sports organizations around the world to emulate. Bringing the ORANGE to podiums around the country through multiple sports, exposing our community pride, and raising homegrown athletes. The amount of children will multiply that are positively influenced within a sports culture they learn quickly they don’t want to live without. A culture that not only focuses on the teams, but the individuals and most importantly bonds the entire Community. Our community, nation and world are going through the hardest and most challenging times, but Nona Soccer Academy and Nona Soccer Cares have been there for our athletes and community and will continue to do so. And now what everyone is waiting for! Under the umbrella of Nona Sports Club, and the platform of Nona Soccer Academy, we will start our expansion into Basketball! Please welcome into the family the new Nona Basketball Academy Coach Fabio Silva founder and CEO of Nona Soccer Academy and Nona Sports Club, will join forces with 3 basketball powerhouses in Youth Competitive Basketball In Central Florida. Coach Oskar Kristjansson Coach Victor Rodriguez Coach Ryan Knuppel To kick off this new addition to Nona Sports Club we will host community free plays on Saturdays in July at Lake Nona Middle School and meet & greets. Also, a Nona Basketball Summer Camp will commence at Innovation Middle School on July 20-24 and 27-31. Please stay tuned as we introduce these basketball experts above in more detail and continue to bring to you the Nona Basketball opportunities. Please join me to welcome Nona Basketball Academy into our community and continue our task to make ORANGE The Color of Lake Nona. Teri D’Amelio Director of Marketing & Development NONA SOCCER ACADEMY

  • NONA CREATION 2021

NONA CREATION 2021 Here we are, already in the second quarter of a year that is expected to be better, expected to be different, or at least a year that is going to take us back to normal. Twenty-five percent of this year I’m referring to is already gone! I can finally see a trend of our society coming around and it’s a good feeling for all of us. Here at Nona Soccer we can say, although the past year was difficult, we were able to stay relevant to our community and to our commitment to provide the highest level of Soccer and Basketball Development to our student-athletes. In 2021 we will continue to innovate and CREATE a product never before seen in Central Florida when it comes to our Commitment to be different, create and innovate in all levels of our operation, and to always be improving our member experience. Our Motto for the year is NONA Creation 2021. We will aim to CREATE the best possible environment for the total development of the NONA Athlete. We are taking our current, already successful, methodology and adding some specific pointers to make it better, and to make it unique. Total Player Development means, everything on and off the sporting fields, courts and screens. The Nona Methodology, the NONA WAY, has been dissected by myself together with my Methodology committee to make it fit all levels across the Academy, with tangible goals, coaches execution timelines, and high-level standards. We are very proud of this evolved Creation. You might have heard us refer to our Players as Student-Athletes. You will hear this a lot! All of our players, no matter the age, are in school. We will continue to impress upon them that school is priority and earning good grades is of utmost importance. Soccer or Basketball complements their school responsibilities. We know our kids in middle school, high-school and our soon to be college players are familiar with this identity. Let’s implement it from the beginning! The implementation of Technology like Video Analysis with VEO, HUDL and UNO by PlayerMaker are only a few of the innovative products we are adding. You will see more video studying from our Coaches as we now make this available. Coach Gabe, our Performance Director for NONA Sports Club, has been with us less than 90 days and we can already see a great impact he is making. This new department is taking our student-athletes through high-level specific training through the now established new program, NONA FAST in Soccer, and NONA Elite Performance Training in Basketball. We have recently completed the license training through US Soccer for 17 of our Competitive Coaches. Not only are we are one of the few Academies in the country to make this available to our Coaches, we made it a mandatory requirement for all Coaches at Nona Competitive. We announced the addition of NONA FC which you will see much more coming throughout the year as we prepare for the inaugural season in 2022! This next-level of soccer is a huge part of our Nona Creation 2021 and I can’t wait to bring this to our community. TRYOUTS are set to be one of the most anticipated Competitive Tryouts in Central Florida the week of May 3rd. The past 4 years have been an unbelievable journey for Nona Soccer and our Nona Sports Club, but I know the best is yet to come. The above is only a small part of the exciting things going on! Members, Community Partners, Coaches and Parents thank you for being part of this Nona Creation 2021. It’s something special we have going on here. Fabio

  • The NONA WAY – Sarasota Cup 2021

The NONA WAY – SARASOTA CUP Nearly one thousand of us from the Nona Sports Club traveled from Lake Nona down to Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota over the weekend experiencing, together, The Nona Way. This included our Student-Athletes, Coaches, Executive Staff and our Families. The fact we were able to take this amount of people to travel outside of Orlando, that alone, shows the power of the pride behind our brand. All Directors and Coaches of Nona Soccer Academy are glad with the performance and results ending with three teams winning the Championship and four teams as Finalists. Most importantly we are very proud of how we achieved excellence by applying “The Nona Way” throughout the weekend. Our takeaways from the weekend will be studied as we reconnect with our teams and examine videos. An expanded methodology is in place to assist and allow our coaches to deliver training sessions that will develop our Student-Athletes to become the best versions of themselves. On the field, before any tactics or style of play, we believe that everything we do must be done with high intensity.  For us at Nona, our Student-Athletes must execute everything with maximal effort and maximal concentration. That mentality goes outside of the four white lines as we develop accountable, respectful and disciplined human beings. The Nona Way goes beyond the field and is becoming a lifestyle as our members get used to do everything at a high standard to represent our brand and make sure everyone around knows how proud we are of our community. A great example this weekend was when our coaches, Student-Athletes and Parents supported each other by watching other Nona games rather than just focusing on their own team. Of course, there is a lot that we need to consider when implementing a new and improved methodology but we cannot ever forget that Soccer is only half our story. Everything we do is to make our community proud! I would love to explain more details about “The Nona Way” but for now, I can assure you that all our 1000+ Members that I mentioned in the beginning, all represented Lake Nona beautifully in Sarasota. What a Team! What a Family! Your time to join and become a member is next week. Registration is required for Tryouts (May 3 – 6). GABE Zapponi Nona Sports Club, Sports Performance Director

  • FIVE YEARS OF A PASSION TRANSFERRED INTO A BUSINESS PLAN

FIVE YEARS November 1st, 2021 I was asked to write something about our 5th Year Anniversary and I have no idea from where to begin so here goes… At first I wanted to talk about the success of the Family Business we created and the revolutionary methods we continue to apply into the difficult market of Youth Sports. We have endured all the challenges of being in this industry without being a non-profit organization. We have proven the ability to break through paradigms instilled in older clubs, and traditional so call “standards” that we changed, shocking the market and raising the bar across the board. This, as time has progressed, making the “old clubs” and “teams” look at us in a different light, which ultimately makes the youth soccer market better by duplicating our methods or just raising the bar altogether with us. Regardless of how you look at it I know the impact we had, and will continue to have, on this ever changing field. But the truth is that the success of the business is not what really touches my heart and emotions or the first thing that comes to my mind when someone asks me about Nona Soccer Academy. So, there I was stuck again in front of my computer. Then I wanted to talk about the success that our young Student Athletes are having on and off the fields, the trophies we brought into Lake Nona, representing our brand and our community all over the State (starting this year some great results out of state). Then I remembered myself, what we teach our coaches; winning is a consequence of a job well done. Our true legacy is not the amount of trophies we bring into Lake Nona. Next I wanted to portray about all the difficulties we had since November 2016 which involves practice locations, bad fields, many hurdles and challenges, that as much as I want to showcase, it is no different than anyone else starting a new business. This is especially true for a business that touches the emotions of their clients. In our case we hold a huge responsibility to teach the children much more than the game, all the attributes of playing team sports, and become a great member of our community. There have been some bold moves, some scary ones, some emotional games, some new friends, unfortunately some new enemies (which is part of it). But, with the humility of trying to learn within every step to continue to do things right, and learn from our mistakes, or even sometimes having no idea of what was going to happen, and even then, face my team and my community and show them all the confidence in the world and move on. Also, all irrelevant if you are an entrepreneur trying to create a business that is different than others. So then I stopped. I closed my eyes and focused for a couple minutes and asked myself, what are the 3 things that comes to your mind when you think of this project? And this is what I came up with: My Family. They are the support system I have at home and everyone involved is amazing. My wife and my 3 boys represent the brand in the highest possible manner, understanding the impact we are making in our market and most importantly on our community. First to my boys, these guys had no idea what they were getting themselves into it. They have had to become leaders at a very young age, had to watch their attitudes, had to control their emotions and fight for their spot on the field, not because they were my sons, but because they were good on their task. This difficult challenge is being performed by all 3 of them daily and will continue to until they grow out of the programs. Then the “Real Boss”, my wife, who’s given up her profession to make my dream a reality. Within our “internal” ups and downs, she is still able to perform at the highest possible level as a Mom, Wife and Business Owner. As much as sometimes I see that it is not her forte, she is willing to learn, to lead and to fight for what she believes is the best product to be delivered to another family, our clients! For all of it, I think the last five years made me a better person not only for the business side, but for the ability to be building something special around my family, and have them proud of it beside me! My Team. I have always known that I would not be able to do it alone. Very early on I knew that I would have to find people NOT to follow me, but those who bought into the vision and understood what had to be done to create a legacy.  I didn’t care about their resume. I didn’t care about their previous experience.  What I wanted was to be able to look them in the eyes and believe that in my absence they would treat the business as their own. Some I thought were these types of people and they weren’t. It hurts!  Some I knew right away that they weren’t the fit.  Five years later I can say that I am no longer needed. My team owns the business and they are capable of running it, growing it and making it better. They challenge me, they teach me, they breath the Brand…Everyone with their own special talents, everyone in their own special ways! We have fun, we worry, we celebrate together, and I know I will take all the credit one day, yet the only credit I want is my ability to find the best possible people to run my business and my ability to build a team! All the rest is all of THEM! Our Legacy. I learned this from my Father a long time ago that if you are going to do something be the absolute best at it and it doesn’t matter what it is. Later in life I heard the same thing from other successful coaches, teachers and entrepreneurs, but I will still give the credit to my old man. I know my responsibility in my market segment and I know the impact I have on it, as well as on the future of my community, once we have the large majority of the youth coming to us 20-25 days per month. So my work is on how we are going to be remembered, how much fun was it to be part of the “NONA” Family, and to hear from someone who’s in college that the best part of their hometown experience was their time with NONA Soccer.  Who knows?  Maybe we can even be able to employ some of these young leaders who one day will be coming back home and look for a job in sports, event management or business administration.  That is my real legacy and I live by it daily! So to write about the first five years, there are a lot of scars, and way too many joyful moments. It is hard to put into words what it has been, knowing that we are just about to start.  More time will just be another way to continue this amazing story, like a good book that you can’t wait for the next version, or that series that keeps you up all night! That’s all. Some of the chapters are emotional, some are challenging, but the book tells a beautiful story of a large group of children in an amazing community! Happy Anniversary Nona Soccer Academy!   Thank you to all of you involved on this project from my family, to my team, to the families who trusts the process, and most importantly to this beautiful community that is the most important part of our success. Sincerely, Fabio Silva

  • NEW MASCOT – THE LONGHORNS

April 8, 2022 Lake Nona – The LONGHORNS Town It was well before our visionary community and futuristic development of Lake Nona started taking off, that you regularly came across these gentle, yet strong giants, the LONGHORNS. They could be found in the miles of vast open land, weaving through our town. Gradually over the course of time as the Tavistock Creation has been coming to life, these graceful beings still have maneuvered and found their place. However, now their habitats are intertwined among family-friendly restaurants, masterplanned neighborhoods, Medical City marvels, roadways and sidewalks. One of the areas you can still find the Longhorns grazing, is around the beautiful Nemours Children’s Hospital. There were even times these farm spaces, big or small, would be called “the caw pastures” if you talked to a NONA Native! As mentioned, neighboring these Lake Nona Longhorns are living results of community vision, tireless hours of hard work, and dedication from Lake Nona residents and leaders together creating one of the most incredible meccas in the United States. The Longhorns continue to move forward, they continue to fend for their independence. They are in the middle of a sprawling community leading the way in all things health and wellness. And no matter the density of movement into Lake Nona, they will always have roamed our special place we call home, well before most of us! They are a reminder of what was, and they will always serve as a nostalgic part of the evolution of Lake Nona. May these iconic beings continue to roam free among our thriving community. One day, decades later, if they are no longer living beside us, let’s remember the Longhorns that roamed where we now live, work and play. As we enjoy the modern local amenities, the soccer matches and basketball games, and enjoy biking on the miles of paths carved out through the “caw pastures”, we will carry on the history within NONA Sports Club as the Longhorns, while still recognizing their dwelling presence, alongside us. NONA Sports Club, honoring this part of intimate history, will adopt the LONGHORNS as our official MASCOT. This is the true symbol of southeastern Central Florida, particularly Lake Nona. We will forever honor the original “residents” here, The Longhorns, and explain to our children in the future that your HOMETOWN Club began back when the Longhorns roamed, and where they continue to be embraced even amidst the “building of a grand vision”. NONA STRONG. WE ARE NONA. WE ARE LONGHORNS. #nonahorns

  • NONA LONGHORNS – NONA FC FIRST SEASON COMPLETE

NONA LONGHORNS – NONA Football CLUB SEASON 1 By: Fabio Silva ~ August 2, 2022 I can not believe we have already reached the end of the USL-2 season with Nona Football Club, but to us at Nona, it’s just the beginning. We started with the goal to provide a connection between the next level and the youth community of NONA Soccer Academy. Now 3 months later, we can say how important and successful this project has been to our community and to the future of soccer in Lake Nona and in Central Florida. Of course the title of the Southeastern Conference in the first year of existence for this program was extremely important, however the success of the first year has given us so many intangibles victories that will be extremely important to the future of our program and the Student Athletes. This professional program led by Coach Gui Henry and his Coaching Staff, has opened relationships with top Collegial Soccer Programs in the country, schools such as Akron, Kentucky, Rollins College, UCF, Marshall, just to name a few. There are many schools across the country willing to extend players to NONA FC! And, just as important, NONA FC gives the college coaches a solid program to keep an eye on when looking into NONA players for their school future. We participated in a great scrimmage against the Orlando City B squad which only enhanced the relationship with the Orlando City Academy even stronger. It’s exciting to share we have a professional relationship for exchanging ideas in regards to coaches and players alike. But the most important by far is that we were able to do all of this with our OWN Coaches! Not only have we proven the quality of the coaches coming out of NONA Soccer Academy, but we will continue to provide a platform for coaches development, in my opinion, the most important success of NONA FC. Lastly, but certainly not least, the connection between the youth and community to their young role models was impressive! Not only from the Nona Kids with the older guys but the other way around! Our Community deserves a team to represent them at the highest level in all aspects of the game, on and off the field, and these guys are willing to come back and do it all over again! Thank you Sponsors. Thank you Community Members. Thank you Fans. Lake Nona, you now have a successful team to call your OWN!

  • NONA FC 2023 SEASON

NONA FC SEASON 2023 – NONA FOOTBALL CLUB SEASON 2- BY - NONA SOCCER ACADEMY. ~ AUGUST 1st 2023. The Nona FC 2023 season was an electrifying rollercoaster ride, filled with highs and lows, and defined by the team’s unwavering resilience and unrelenting determination. As the season kicked off, expectations were high, due to the success of the past season, and the pressure to perform was immense. The players knew they had a legacy to uphold and the fans were hungry for success. From the first whistle of the opening game, Nona FC showcased their intent to dominate the league. The team’s attacking prowess was evident as they scored goals with determination precision. The midfield displayed a mesmerizing command over the game’s tempo, orchestrating plays every chance they could. Throughout the season, Nona FC’s players exemplified the true essence of teamwork. Each member of the squad played their role to perfection, supporting one another both on and off the field. The camaraderie amongst the players was palpable, and it fueled their desire to push boundaries and achieve greatness together. However, no season is without its challenges. Nona FC encountered some tough matches that tested their resolve. Setbacks tried to derail their progress, but the team refused to yield. They drew strength from their setbacks, learning valuable lessons and using adversity as a stepping stone to grow even stronger. As the season reached its climax, the title race intensified, and Nona FC found themselves in a thrilling battle for the championship. Each match became a make-or-break moment, and the players summoned every ounce of their skill and heart to come out victorious. The decisive moment arrived in the last match of the regular season. The pressure was immense,Nona FC got the three points to qualify for the playoffs, but unfortunately did not win the conference back to back.In the end, ended up facing Texas United  in Asheville  in the first round of the playoffs. Nona FC faced a tough result, and happened to lose in the first round. Right from the kickoff, it was evident that both teams were determined to claim victory. Texas United struck first, after a defensive lapse from Nona FC to take the lead. Nona FC fought hard on everyball, but they went to the second half with a negative balance on the score. Within the first 10 minutes of the second half Nona was demonstrating a fighting spirit and ended up tying with Tarik.  The match proceeded with a dramatic ending with Texas United getting a red card with 20 minutes left on the clock, but they held the game to the penalties shootout. Both teams demonstrated their will to win scoring over 15 penalties with precision. However, Nona FC ended up losing the game. Our players always showed that they are warriors, and they fought every minute. The result wasn’t the best, we will thrive again next season.

We believe that by instilling a love for the beautiful game and providing the right guidance, we are shaping not just skilled players but also well-rounded individuals who carry the values of dedication, teamwork, and respect beyond the soccer field.
