WHY TO INVEST ON YOUR KIDS TO PLAY SOCCER?

Updated: Mar 28

Two co-workers are talking by the water cooler and one asks: Why do you spend so much money and time running around with your son playing soccer, tournaments, practices? The “Players Father” responds: I have a confession to make, I don’t invest my time and money for my son to play soccer….If you don’t invest for him to play, what do you invest on? Well! Says the “players father”, I invest in those moments where my son is tired and thinks to give up, but doesn’t! I invest on my child making life lasting friendships. I invest in the possibility of my child having amazing coaches, and be able to learn from them not only about the game of soccer, but the game of life. I also invest for my child to be disciplined. I invest for my son to learn how to better care for his body. I invest for my son to learn how to work with other people, and learn how to be a proud member of a team. I invest for my son to learn how to face defeat, when he doesn’t win, miss a movement or a play, even though he practices that same play hundreds of times, but still lift his head high, and is determined to do it better next time. I invest for my son to learn how to achieve accomplishments. I invest for my son to learn that it takes hours and hours of hard work and practice, to create a champion, and that success does not happen overnight. I invest so my son can be on the field, instead of involved with bad things off of it. And if he is going to be a Professional Player, at a high level, I don’t know! I could keep on going on why I do what I do, but to make a long story short, I don’t invest for him to play or practice, I invest on the opportunities the sport gives him to develop attributes that will help him for the rest of his life, and give him the blessing to be part of other people’s lives, knowing that at the game, we are all equal. And for what I have seeing over the years, this is a pretty good investment! This is what I leave behind for my kids and community.

I did not write this, and I Don’t know who did, all I did was try to translate it to English. But whoever this person was, he was able to capture all the feelings of a soccer dad, “Sports” Dads in general.

Thank you to sports parents all over the world to continue to make this investment of time and money to make the world a better place.

Sincerely,
